- There is a meeting for boys tennis on today in room 160 after school at 3:30!  Be there or be square!

 

- Please congratulate the following Top 10 finishers at the 5A State Track Meet.

*Dawnie Lewis Finished 2nd in the 200M Dash in 5A, She also finished 3rd in the 100M Dash.

*Chance Walker-Chambers finished 2nd in 5A Long Jump and Matt Thomas Finished 8th in 5A Long Jump.

*Chance Walker-Chambers also finished 4th in the Triple Jump in 5A

*The Girls 800 Sprint Medley Relay of Ayana Brown, Ty Norman, Dawnie Lewis and Jasmin Finished 3rd in 5A.

*The Girls 4x100M Relay of Ayana Brown, Ezi Ozoma, Jasmin Bowman, and Dawnie Lewis finished 5th in 5A.

*The Boys 4x100M Relay of Chance Walker-Chambers, Matt Thomas, Diondre Johnson and Kaleb Starling finished 10th in 5A

*And Jasmin Bowman finished 10th in the 400M Dash in 5A.

- We have a new concurrent enrollment class for next year.  Students in all grades are eligible to take this elective and a great class for students who are interested in being in the ASCENT program. The class title is AAA 101 (triple A one-oh-one) and it’s a weighted elective course.  If you are interested, stop by the counseling office and tell your counselor!

- We have a new concurrent enrollment class for next year.  Students in all grades are eligible to take this elective and a great class for students who are interested in being in the ASCENT program. - Do you consider yourself an expert at social media? Are you good at reaching the masses on Twitter, Facebook, SnapChat, etc., and gaining followers? Would you like to earn an elective credit next year for these skills? If so, see Mr. Carabello in room 164 by the library by the end of the week.

-The deadline to buy your $25 ticket to the senior luncheon is tomorrow. Tickets can be bought from the bookkeeper and you must show an ID.

- If you would like to be included in the Class Video that will be shown at the Senior Luncheon on May 17th, submit school appropriate photos and videos to Ms. Kelley in the Training Room, Yazmine Lacunza, or to the email rangeviewseniors17@gmail.com. Today is the deadline to submit!

- Prom royalty nominations ballots will be available on the RHS website and there will be leadership students working a table during lunch for people to have easier access to voting.

- A big thanks for everyone who participated in and attended the annual senioritis vs. arthritis basketball game last night. Although there is still heated debate in the hallways this morning about what squad won and exactly how many seniors got dunked on by Mr. Carter, the real winner is a little girl named LC that so many Raiders supported in their participation in the game. Good work, Raiders.

- The senioritis vs. arthritis game is tonight at 7:00 pm. Come see the teachers get schooled. There is also a drawing for prizes during halftime and all the money raised will go to LC’s Make-A-Wish fund. Tickets are $3 from any NHS student or Mr. Seibenthal.

- National Art Honor Society is hosting an Art Gallery Night this evening from 5 to 7 pm in the commons.  There will be light refreshments, an option to vote on best of show, and lots of artwork that students have made this year.  Stop by before Rangeview's dance recital.

- Boys varsity baseball game vs. Adams City @ RHS at 4:00 pm

- Don’t forget to buy your $3 senioritis vs. arthritis ticket from an NHS member or Mr. Seibenthal. The game is at 7 on Wednesday at RHS. Come support LC and her wonderful wish all while watching your classmates clown on some old teachers in short shorts.

-Congratulations to The Raider Review for earning the most awards of any student media website in the state, hauling in a record 18 statewide awards from the Colorado Student Media Association, including nine first-place awards, by far its most ever.  Competing at the highest level in the state, Jacob Stockinger won first place for video commentary, Savannah Lyman won first place for feature writing, Jaylen Dunbar won first place for in-depth video news and video news writing, Jorion Marshall won first place for broadcast personality and video feature writing. Hannah Metzger won first place for in-depth news writing, Chris Arias won for best opinion column of the year, and Alivia Lee was named the best opinion columnist in the state. Hannah Metzger was also named reporter of the year in the state.

- Please don’t forget to come out Wednesday night at 7 p.m. to support Rangeview’s Make-A-Wish charity by purchasing a $3 ticket to the Senioritis vs. Arthritis basketball game. Come watch Mr. Carabello get dunked on by Jeremiah Rogers and watch Mr. Sobes get crossed by Jaelin Jones and then be eligible for tons of free raffle prizes at half-time, all while helping a very sick little girl accomplish her dream.

-The APS swim team is winning this season, Our 400 free relay qualified for state with the team of, David Griffith, Nathan Leigh, Danyion Regan, and Darrin Fauser.  Isaiah Cheeks placed 1st in Diving, setting a new APS record. Currently Isaiah Cheeks is ranked 8th in the state of diving.

*Link Leader applications are due today. Please pick one up and turn into Mr. Sladek in the social studies office!

*If you are looking for something to do this summer, go to the Rangeview web site and see all of the summer opportunities available. You can participate in everything from a Police Citizens Academy to a Cyber Security camp. Don’t spend the summer on the couch, get out and participate!

*On Monday May 1st at 6:00 pm we will be hosting a bubble soccer tournament on the turf. Compete against your friends while in a bouncy, inflatable bubble. The cost is $10 for a team of 5-7 players. Can't wait to see you there!

*Boys varsity lacrosse game vs. Denver South @ Denver South High School at 5:30 p.m.

*The varsity lacrosse team will have a game on DU's field on Saturday at 2 against Jefferson Academy. The Rangeview lacrosse team is doing a can food drive as a entrance fee. If anybody wanted to come they can bring a couple of cans that will be donated to the Food Bank of the Rockies. Come to one of the best lacrosse stadiums in the country and support your Raiders.

*FUN SPORTS FACT OF THE DAY: Do you know senior basketball player Matthew Johnson? Well, on May 10 his last name will be changed to Mr. Carter’s son after Mr. Carter dunks all over him and the rest of the senior basketball players in the annual staff vs. student basketball game. Come out May 10 at 7 p.m. to watch your teachers take on the seniors and raise money for charity and tell Matthew Carter’sSon to get ready to become poster famous.

Current sophomores and juniors may pick up a Link application from Mr. Sladek in the social studies office. This program is dedicated to helping mentor incoming freshmen as well as other younger students in the community. Applications are due Wednesday, April 26th!

*The Aurora Police Department is still recruiting for this summer’s Teen Citizen Police Academy in June. Turn in your applications to the SRO’S ASAP. If you need an application or have any questions about the program, go see your SRO’s in the attendance office area.

* Attention all juniors interested in playing college sports. If you would like the opportunity to be a Division 1 or 2 college athlete, you must first register with the NCAA Eligibility Clearinghouse online as soon as possible. If you have questions about this process please see Ms. G or Mr. Hirsch in the Counseling Office.

*Would you like to perform at the advancement assembly, convocation, or senior luncheon? Seniors pick up audition packets in the main office for an audition time. All are welcomed to audition.

*The Festival of the Arts is here! Check out a collection of pieces created by Aurora Public School students, including several of our own Rangeview artists.  Artwork will be on display throughout the Town Center of Aurora during regular business hours through April 22nd.  Check it out!

*There is a Volleyball tournament this Friday April 21st @7:00 PM. Registration papers are in the main office and the deadline has been extended until the end of the day Friday! *The Speech and debate team ended  their season well over break. Rebekah Ramey and Tania Sunti placed 6th in drama, Trinity Stevenson placed 5th in oratory, Connor Rodenbeck placed 6th in slam poetry. Rangeview swept the event Big Questions, Lizzie Stacks placed 3rd, Myriam Alcala placed 2nd, and Nadya Nfaoui won the event and will head to nationals this summer. Congrats on a great season!

*The Aurora Police Department is currently recruiting for this summer’s Teen Academy. The academy will have two sessions,  JUNE 5-16 and JUNE 19-30. You can choose morning or afternoon classes. Learn firearm safety, do a ride-along in a patrol car, see SWAT training and more. See Rangeview’s website for more information.

*On Friday the Girls tennis team had one of their best showings ever in the Eaglecrest tournament.  Justina Koukeokingthale and Elena Dedi  both finished in 2nd place in #1 and #2 singles.  Sarah Bates and Lindsay Duran placed 5th in #1 doubles.  Dakota Weir and Victoria Pasillas placed 8th in #2 doubles.  Trinity Stevenson and Makenzie Bell placed 9th in #3 doubles and Cheyanne Boe placed 9th in #3 singles.  The girls will take on Brighton on Thursday at Vista Peak.

This is ‘discrimination in favor of able-bodied people’ At Rangeview, we want to end discrimination against all types of populations. One way to end discrimination against people with disabilities is to stop using the word, ‘retarded’ – it’s ableist. Today is National Spread the Word to End the Word Day. Students with disabilities will be in the commons selling $5 t-shirts and $1 bracelets during lunch that show you support anti-discrimination against people with disabilities. Stop by, buy a t-shirt or bracelet, sign the pledge to stop using the R-Word, and get a free sticker!

Congratulations to The Raider Review staff for winning the Colorado Student Media Associations "FEARless" contest, which recognized three Colorado student media staffs for fearless reporting and coverage of important topics. The Review, Palmer Ridge and Eagle Valley High School staffs all earned $300 to spend on their media development. See the three Review stories recognized on the RHS website.

We are proud to announce that Rangeview will be offering a new performing arts class next year called “School of Rock.”  This class is for you if you’ve ever dreamed of being a rock star, a hip-hop artist or any sort of big time musician.  To put these classes together, we are looking for vocalists, guitarists, bass players, drummers, horn players, and those who are interested in all sorts of electronic music.  Be sure to look for “School of Rock” on your registrations forms when you get them.

* Finally, a huge shout out to the Rangeview Swimming & Diving team!  The team went undefeated this year in their Dual Meets, won their 14th APS Title and Finished 2nd at the EMAC League meet beating Brighton by half a point!  Best finish at leagues in the history of the program.  Great job ladies!!  This week Sarah Mortenson will be competing at the 5A State Meet in diving while Jasmine Johnson will be swimming at the 5A State Meet in the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke.  Good luck this week ladies!

  • The Junior class will be doing a crush gram fundraiser. Crush sodas and with notes will be sold and delivered for two dollars a piece. Buy a soda to send to your cush during lunch February 9th, 10th, and 13th. They will be delivered the 14th. Get them while you can to your crush.

  • At the December Debate Tournament Rangeview’s team once again did a good job. Danyion Reagan placed 6th in the Drama competition, Lizzie Stacks placed 5th in Slam Poetry and Connor Rodenbeck placed third. Great job Raiders! If you are interested in competing in the next competition at Rangeview please speak to Mrs.Gebhardt.
  • The annual Mr. RHS Pageant is right around the corner! For any freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior boys that would like to participate, auditions will be MONDAY, January 9th, @ 3:45 in the dance room! Audition packets will be in the main office, please have that filled out for auditions. If you have any questions please ask Ms. G or Mr. Lysaght!
  • Amber Lopez, the APS Coordinator for Concurrent Enrollment, will be in the Rangeview College and Career Center each Tuesday from 11:30-1:00 p.m. She will be happy to meet with all students and parents regarding every aspect of Concurrent Enrollment, CCA application, ASCENT, earning an associate degree, testing, etc. Please drop in, no appointment needed, to meet with Amber.

It’s time to start thinking about AP exams! All AP students should have received information in their AP classes regarding the AP exams, if your student did not receive any information, here is what you need to know. It’s exam ordering time, all students planning to take an AP exam must turn in a $20.00 deposit to the Rangeview bookkeeper no later than January 6, 2017. Full payment for all exams must be turned in no later than February 19, 2017 and testing will take place May 1-12, 2017.

-INROADS is coming to RHS. The INROADS Leadership Development Program provides professional training, which includes access to a career-related paid summer internship at a Fortune 500 company!   • All boys interested in playing baseball this spring should meet with Coach Spriggs in the lecture hall 251 after school today, Thursday, Nov. 17th.
  • Today after school there will be the Red Vs White game starting with the boys 9th grade vs C-Team at 4:30, Girls Varsity at 6, and Boys varsity at 7:30. Tickets are for sale for $2. You can buy from any of the athletes participating in today's events.

  • The speech and debate team had another successful tournament. Maddie Heiken won oratory and Trinity Stevenson placed third. Alyanna Marleton placed  2nd in slam poetry, Lizzie Stacks won 1st and  Connor Rodenbeck placed 6th. Ariana Jones placed 10th for novice debate speaker and Darrin Fauser placed 8th. Lastly, Lizzie Stacks placed 4th in student congress. Congrats to all the new debate teams, it was a great tournament.

·         The weight room will be open for the Winter season after school from 3:30-4:30, Monday through Thursday. If you are interested in attending, please come dressed in workout attire today

·         Do you like sports? Do you want to help students with disabilities feel included in the Rangeview community? Join Unified Sports to play on a team with students who have disabilities. We will play against other APS schools and participate in a state-wide tournament against other Unified Sports teams! We play basketball in the Winter and soccer in the Spring! No tryouts necessary. See Mrs. Warner in rm 222 for an application. Due back to her December 1st.

  • Congratulations to the Rangeview Raiders cross country teams for their  performance at the EMAC league meet over break.  The boys were 4th place, the girls were 6th place in the 11 team league.  Individual awards went to Michael George, 4th place overall and 1st team all league, and Sydney Comet, 8thplace overall and 2nd team all league.  Josh Nuttal and Shynell Moore were also Honorable mention all league.

  • The Community College of Aurora is hosting Fall Festival on Saturday, October 22nd from 11:00AM-1:00PM.  We're having a little party on campus with some free food and fun. This is a chance for students, families and community members to check out the campus, ask some questions and have a good time! We'll have games including some for kids. We'll also have tours and info about applying to, attending and paying for college.  Students can register (not required) by visiting the CCA website.

  • Hey Raiders, listen up!  Especially you Freshmen…  Rangeview has an amazing partnership with the University of Colorado at Denver Pre-Collegiate Development program and they are looking to interview 30 freshmen to join their program.  In order to qualify, you must be a first-generation student and you must have a minimum GPA of a 2.5. Please attend an information meeting this Thursday in the College and Career Center at 9:45am. You can get a pass from Mrs. Knower in the counseling office or see Mrs. Atencio with any questions.
  • "Attention students! Rangeview is doing donations wars between the classes, donated to Make-a-Wish. Whatever class has the least amount of money donated by Friday, September 30th, results in their class president getting pied during halftime at the annual Anvil game. Jars for donation can be located in the Locker."
