“I feel honored, it is a cool thing. I never thought thought it would go this far,” said Brown, a veteran of Rangeview’s Science Department and leader of the school’s StellarXplorers program. Tom’s “Cosmos Rangers” focus on valuable experiences many with mentor volunteers from Buckley Air Force Base led by Lieutenant Chris Dong from the 460th Space Wing. Just this past April Tom’s team finished in the top ten of the third annual competition that features “an exciting,
space-focused competition to address real-world problems.
“Tom exemplifies passion for our kids in the program,” said Principal Ron Fay.
“This is great for our school. It’s more about the school than it is me. I’m so proud of our kids,”
continued Brown. “Rangeview is the only Colorado school represented. It’s all over the country
and the world even, yet we made it to the final 10 out of over 130 teams.”
Tom is next in line for the State Teacher of the Year Award against four other educators from
the state of Colorado. For more information on his program, visit StellarXplorers.org.
