If you have been awarded a scholarship, please let Ms. G know and/or add the information to Naviance. You can enter them in Naviance by going to the College tab. Click on “Scholarship applications” and add or edit your scholarship list. If you have been awarded a scholarship directly from a school, click on Institutional Scholarship.

Ascent Parent Meeting 

 

Parents of seniors planning to participate in ASCENT Program are required to attend this important meeting on Tuesday, April 10 in the RHS Auditorium. 6-7 pm. This meeting is for students interested in attending CCA, Metro, or Pickens.

RHS Faculty scholarship

 

Amount of award: $800 to 4 students

Deadline to apply: May 4, 2018

 

Seniors are invited to apply for the RHS faculty scholarship. Applicants must have a 2.75 or higher GPA and must attend a post-secondary institution in the fall of 2018. The application can be found on the Rangeview website and in the Counseling office. Typed applications are due to Ms. Gessesse by 3:30 PM on Friday, May 4th.

 

Smoky Hill Rotary Foundation Annual Scholarship 

 

Amount of award: $2,000

Deadline to apply: April 27, 2018

Seniors are invited to apply for the Smoky Hill Rotary Foundation Annual Scholarship Applicant needs to submit an application, two letters of recommendation, and official high school transcript. Applications are in Ms. G’s office and need to be turned in to Ms. G.

 

Aurora Auxiliary for Health-Related Services, Inc.

 

Amount of Award: $1,000

Deadline to apply: May 1, 2018

 

The Aurora Auxiliary for Health-Related Service Continuing Education Scholarship Program is designed to promote interest in all facets of the medical/health profession. Applicants need to be Aurora citizens graduating from an Aurora area high school. A transcript, list of scholastic achievements, proof of acceptance to an accredited school providing medical professional education, letters of recommendation and a description of the applicant’s life goal must be sent along with the application. ASPIRE Foundation of Colorado

 

Amount of award: $1,000

Aurora Schools Federal Credit Union (ASFCU) is offering a $2,500 scholarship to 3 Aurora Public School High School senior. Applicants must be US citizens or have proof of eligible non-citizen status.  They must have a GPA of 2.5-3.5, be currently involved in community service activities and be accepted at an accredited college, university or technical school. Kiwanis Club of Aurora Foundation

 

Amount of award: $1,500

UCHealth Summer Volunteer- Juniors and Seniors only

 

Deadline to apply- April 14th

 

The volunteer program is open to teens aged 16-18 that carry a GPA of 3.0 or above and have a serious interest in health care. Participants will be exposed to a wide range of possible experiences, such as assisting in radiology and patient rehab, attending medical lectures, observing surgeries and working with mechanical robots during simulation exercises. They may also help greet and transport patients, work in central supply, provide beverages and perform a variety of daily tasks that ultimately contribute to excellence in patient care.

The goal of the UCHealth summer volunteer program is to expose teens to the many facets of the healthcare industry and help them discover whether a medical career might be the right fit for them. Candidates must be reliable, motivated and self-directed with excellent communication skills. The teen volunteers will be expected to work four-hour shifts twice a week.

UCHealth is proud to offer this program for the second consecutive summer and looks forward to working with dedicated teens from throughout the Denver metro area.

Youth Roots 

 

April 15th is the deadline for a life-changing leadership opportunity for students. YouthRoots is a local nonprofit that teaches high school students how to make the world a better place while developing their leadership and life skills. YouthRoots was awarded the National Philanthropy Day's Award for "Outstanding Foundation" this year. 

 

The program is completely free. As members of YouthRoots, students will:

· Learn and practice skills that will empower them to be a strong leader today and tomorrow

· Use philanthropy to tackle issues they care about

· Collaborate with awesome high schoolers from different schools

· Complete 60 hours of community service

American Legion Girls and Boys State

Girls State: June 10-16, 2018 at the University of Northern Colorado

The theme for this year’s Girls State is “Climb Until Your Dreams Come True”. Girls State is a highly selective program choosing participants with excellent academic accomplishments. Participants will develop their knowledge of our two-party system, become familiar with American traditions and participate in a government-like system. Applicants must be current high school juniors with above-average academic performance, have high moral character and an interest in government and current events. Applicants should write a short essay about “Why I would like to attend Girls State”. The program cost is paid by the American Legion

Medical Career Collaborative (MC²) at Children’s Hospital Colorado-

Deadline- March 14, 2018

The Medical Career Collaborative is a two-year program and requires a commitment from selected students for both years (junior and senior year). Based on this timeline, the MC² selection committee will only accept applications from students who are currently in their sophomore year. MC² gives priority to applicants who attend high schools in the counties of Denver, Arapahoe, and Adams and in some cases Jefferson. The program places great emphasis on including students of all backgrounds, socio-economic groups, and geographic regions and aims to create a diverse group of students. Barnard Summer in New York City Summer Programs

Barnard offers six summer programs for current 10th and 11th-grade females. These programs provide a great opportunity for students to enjoy a pre-college experience and college preparation while exploring NYC. The summer in the City and Liberal Arts Intensive programs focus on writing, literature, theater, film studies, and more. The Young Women’s Leadership Institute focuses on leadership and gender studies. Dance in the City concentrates on performances across and technique classes at The Ailey Extension at the Joan Weill Center for Dance. Summer Science Seminars offers STEM-based seminars in biology, chemistry, and environmental science. The sixth program, Entrepreneurs-in-Training gives students the opportunity to learn from entrepreneurs the skills needed for creating and marketing a start-up. Hispanic Scholarship Foundation

The HSF application is for any students that come from Hispanic heritage, have a minimum GPA 3.0 and are U.S citizen, permanent legal resident, DACA or eligible non-citizen. The student needs to have planned to enroll full-time in an accredited 4-year university in the fall of 2018. Barnard offers six summer programs for current 10th and 11th-grade females. Applications with January 1st Deadlines

If you are applying to a college/university that has a January 1st deadline be aware that this date occurs during Winter Break. Do the following to make sure everything is sent on time;

  • Talk to any teacher completing letters of recommendation and teacher evaluations. Ask teachers to have their documents uploaded into Naviance by Monday, December 18th.
  • Talk to your counselor. Ask him/her to have their documents uploaded into Naviance by Monday, December 11th.
  • IMMEDIATELY request your transcripts through Naviance. There is a 5-day processing time frame.
  • Match your Common App with Naviance by Monday, December 11th.
  • Everything needs to be completed by the end of the day Monday, December 18th, so that Mrs. Knower can send everything by Thursday, December 15th. She will NOT be processing transcripts or application materials over Winter Break.

All seniors who are interested in ASCENT for CCA, Metro State and/or Pickens Technical College should attend a meeting on Friday, December 8th, in the College and Career Center at Rangeview. 

This informational meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarships

Local chapters of the Ronald McDonald House Charities award scholarships in addition to the national awards. Applicants must be high school seniors, legal US residents, under the age of 21, have a GPA of 2.7 or higher and live within the geographic boundaries of a participating chapter. Selection will be based on financial need, community involvement, academic achievements and essay content. There are four different scholarships with specific eligibility criteria that local chapters may be awarding:

RMHC/African-American Future Achievers- at least one parent must be of African-American or Black-Caribbean heritage

RMHC/Scholars- all students are eligible regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin

Daniels Fund Scholarship

Amount of award: Covers Unmet Need

Each year, the Daniels Fund awards about 100 scholarships to students in the Denver metro area.  This four-year scholarship covers all unmet need for the accredited college of your choice, nation-wide. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Students will need to complete their application online and have two online recommendations.  Get started early!  The recommended time for a student to spend on this application is 10 hours.  Please be sure to give your recommender a minimum of three weeks to complete his/her part online. The Jackie Robinson Foundation provides a multi-faceted experience designed to not only address the financial needs of minority students who aspire to attend college but also to guide them through the process of higher education, molding them into dynamic leaders with a commitment to public service and Jackie Robinson's humanitarian ideals. The award is given to outstanding high school graduates who plan to earn a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Applicants must meet the following requirements: Be a graduating, minority senior, show leadership potential, demonstrate a dedication to community service, present evidence of financial need, be a US citizen, have an ACT composite score of 21 or higher, and not a have degree from a 2 or 4-year college.

Asian Pacific Islander American Scholarship

Application Deadline: January 11, 2018

Amount of award: $2,500-$15,000

The APIA Scholarship Foundation scholarship application is now open. Students of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be citizens, national or legal permanent residents of the US and planning to enroll in an undergraduate program in the fall of 2017. Applicants must also have a minimum GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted), apply for federal financial aid and submit a letter of recommendation with the application. PFLAG of Denver Scholarship Program 

Application Deadline: February 28, 2018

Amount of award: $2,500-$5,000

National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR)  

Application Deadline: February 10, 2018

Amount of award: Various scholarships and amounts

The NSDAR awards multiple scholarships to students showing dedication to the pursuit of degrees in diverse disciplines including history, law, nursing, and education. The DAR Scholarship Committee awards scholarships to qualified applicants regardless of race, religion or sex. All applicants must be United States citizens. All multi-year scholarships, typically renewable up to four years, must be for consecutive years of attendance at an accredited college or university in the United States. The only exception is the American Indian Scholarship that is available for students pursuing vocational training.

Foot Locker will be awarding $20,000 college scholarships to outstanding student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional academic ability and strong leadership skills in sports, school and within their communities. Naviance Info for Seniors

Common Application- Let your counselor know if you will be using the Common Application to apply to colleges. There are separate forms that need to be completed by your counselor and teachers.

Transcript requests- As you apply for colleges and scholarships remember to request your transcripts through Naviance. Under the Colleges tab click on “Transcripts” on the left side of the screen.

Acceptances- Students when you’re accepted into a school add your acceptance on Naviance to see your pennant in the College and Career Center!

Daniels Scholars Presentation

Interested in applying for the Daniels Scholarship? Are you eligible to apply? 

To be eligible for the Daniels Scholarship Program, students must satisfy the following requirements at the time of application:

•           Demonstrate financial need 

•           Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States

•           Be a resident of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming

•           Be a high school senior graduating from a school in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming

•           Earn ACT scores of at least 17 in each category (Math, English, Reading, Science); or an SAT Math score of at least 470 and an Evidence-Based Reading & Writing score of at least 450. Writing scores are not required. All test scores must come from a single test and must be submitted by the application deadline. Super scoring is not accepted.

Daniels Fund Scholarship

Application Deadline to apply: -November 30, 2017

Amount of award: Covers Unmet Need

Each year, the Daniels Fund awards about 100 scholarships to students in the Denver metro area.  This four-year scholarship covers all unmet need for the accredited college of your choice, nation-wide. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Students will need to complete their application online and have two online recommendations.  Get started early!  The recommended time for a student to spend on this application is 10 hours.  Please be sure to give your recommender a minimum of three weeks to complete his/her part online. Applicants need to complete the FAFSA. The first part of the application will require financial information from the applicant and his/her guardian(s).

Greenhouse Scholars

Application Deadline: December 1, 2017

Amount of award: $5,000 /yr. for up to 4 years

Greenhouse Scholars provides comprehensive personal and financial support, including one-on-one mentorship, professional guidance, peer mentorship, leadership training, and a renewable need-based college scholarship of up to $5,000 per year. We are not a typical scholarship program—become a Greenhouse Scholar and get the support you need to become the community leader you are destined to be. Applicants must be planning to attend an accredited 4-year university, be a US citizen or permanent resident and a legal resident of Colorado, have an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher, have an annual household income of no greater than $70,000, demonstrate a strong commitment to the community, possess excellent leadership skills, and an ability to persevere through difficult circumstances. The Children’s Hospital Pediatric Mental Health Institute (PMHI) is recruiting up to 12 passionate youth (ages 15-17) to participate as members of the Children’s Mental Health Youth Action Board (YAB). The board consists of up to 15 youth from across the Denver Metro Area who is interested in improving mental health in Colorado.  Complete an application (see Ms. G) AND include ONE picture that says something about you, your passion for children’s mental health, your family, or your community then email both the application and picture to Heather.kennedy@childrenscolorado.org by 5pm on September 13th.

National College Fairs Denver Area Fair- Sunday September 24, 2017 1pm- 4pm

Visit with representatives from over 200 colleges and universities from across the United States and several international universities. CU Pre-Health Day- Saturday September 23,2017

CU Pre-Health Day has been developed and created to provide pre-college, undergraduate, and graduate level students as well as pre-health advisors with information that can help ensure success in a health-related admissions process. We charge a nominal fee of $15* to provide attendees access to admissions professionals and faculty. Our Pre-Health Day event represents an exceptional opportunity for all prospective students with an interest in a health-related course of study.
