Announcement about increasing meal prices
Nutrition Services has experienced a substantial increase in food costs. We are adding 6 more Breakfast after the Bell sites. To help cover the increased costs for breakfast and lunch, full paid costs will increase by the amounts shown below.
Effective July 2011, the interim rule entitled, “National School Lunch Program: School Food Service Account Revenue Amendments Related to Section 205 of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010” requires that School Food Authorities (SFA) ensure that sufficient funds are provided to the nonprofit school food service account for lunches served to students not eligible for free or reduced-priced meals.
The provision requires that each SFA compares the average price charged to the “paid students” to the federal reimbursement rate for free meals. If the average paid lunch price is less than the difference, the SFA must adjust its prices or provide non-federal funding to cover that amount.
