Below is the story of Landon Steinkamp a junior at Rangeview High School.
National Honor Society takes part in our community by helping with carnivals, Salvation Army, and regular community service. I decided to create my own project from a previous experience called “Blessing Bags”. I have done this before but very small with family but wanted to make it better. Thanks in part to local Targets, King Soopers, Sam’s Clubs, dentistries, and especially the families of Rangeview students. We received donations of more than $1,500 in supplies to make over 200 lunches and 200 toiletry bags. Each bag included a granola bar, sandwich, water, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste and more. We made the bags on Saturday, April 20, 2019. Later that day we began to hand them at churches, shelters, and a lot of people that we saw next to buildings as we drove around. Passing out each bag was different, each person had a different story than the other and some were in a worse spot than the last but they all were thankful to receive help from a random person just to get to the next day. Not many have experienced how to make a change in not only their community but also society which is why this was a great way to see personally how lucky we are to have a home, food, and clothes. Please don’t take what you have for granted and make a change that’s bigger than yourself.
