January 23, 2020

  • Seniors. When was the last time you visited the CCC? The center is open for you and all students to think and talk about your future. It's also a place to step away from your daily routine and work on applications, research, etc. with expert help in the room. We help with everything from resumes and job applications to scholarships and FAFSA. Stop by today and see what we're all about!   
  • Thank you to everyone who donated to the Environmental Club fundraiser. Every dollar donated helped with the fires in Australia and all proceeds will be donated to the Australian Red Cross. 
  • If anybody is interested in running for a position in Student Leadership next year, please stop by the main office to pick up an informational packet this week. If you have any other questions, ask Mr. Brecht or Mr. Elliott for more information.
  • Good luck to Rangeview’s Unified Basketball team who will play at Vista Peak today at 4 PM. Our Unified Cheer team will also be there to show our Raider Pride! Go Raiders!

If you're interested in being a part of the biggest athletic team in APS, we are inviting you to join us for our preseason workouts on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3:30-4:30 pm.   • It’s not too late to join Score a Friend Club to improve inclusion for people with disabilities at Rangeview. We will be meet in room 113 after school this Wednesday to work on our inclusion projects! Hope to see you there!
  • Please check out our Girls Swim team this week. They continue to have success in the pool this season as they are raining APS and EMAC champions. They have their Senior Meet Thursday vs Northglenn at 5 pm.

  • Step Practice will be held today after school from 3:30 - 4:30 pm in room 116 down by the weight room. You are expected to dress out, wearing the proper attire and shoes. Please be on time and be prepared to STEP.

  • Due to Access testing, the Media Center will be closed 1st through 3rd period today and tomorrow. We will reopen for lunch and stay open for the remainder of the day. Beginning January 21 through January 24, the Media Center will be closed 1st through 3rd periods, then 5th through 7th periods.  We will be open for both lunches and before school.
  • Attention Concurrent Enrollment Students!  DualEnroll registration will close on Monday, January 20th. Please remember your Parent Consent is required. Incomplete registration will result in cancellation of your CE course. If you have questions, stop by the Counseling Office.
  • Student Leadership elections are approaching fast and will be held during the week of February 17. Any student interested in running for a position or joining Student Leadership for the 2020-2021 school year should attend an informational meeting. They will be held this today after school, and tomorrow during lunch in room 230. Please see Mr. Brecht or Mr. Elliott for more details.
  • Environmental Club is holding a fundraiser during lunches this week to support Australia's wildfire relief efforts. Over 15.6 million acres of land have been torched and an estimated 1 billion animals have died so far and these fires continue to burn. Buckets will be in the commons and at the front entrance during both lunches and anyone who donates will get a paper koala to sign and hang up. Any donation helps.
  • This Friday from 4-8 pm, student leadership will be having a video game night. For $3, you can play games like 2k, Fifa, Fortnight and many more. All games will take place in the math department. 
  • It’s not too late to join Score a Friend Club to improve inclusion for people with disabilities at Rangeview. Today, we will be meeting in room 113 after school to plan our Winter Fun Activity! Join us to see what we’re all about!

  • Congratulations to Coach Palmer. With the win Tuesday night at Hinkley High School, Palmer passed Coach Terry Taylor to become the all-time leader in wins in Rangeview High School history with 288 total wins. Be sure to congratulate Coach Palmer next time you see him.

  • Environmental Club is holding a fundraiser during lunches this week to support Australia's wildfire relief efforts. Over 15.6 million acres of land have been torched and an estimated 1 billion animals have died so far and these fires continue to burn. Buckets will be in the commons and at the front entrance during both lunches and anyone who donates will get a paper koala to sign and hang up. Any donation helps.

Congratulations to Ms. Meyer for winning the hydroflask, Ethan Park for winning the pair of Vans of his choosing, Vernice Hernandez for winning a $10 gift card of her choosing, Daniel Higgins for winning the metal straws, and Thyler Endita for winning a UNICEF t-shirt.

That being said, it’s time to pick up your new principal’s pass.  Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors, if you earned a 2.75 GPA, had a 90% attendance rate and no discipline for 2nd quarter, please come to the double R’s today to pick up your new ID. Freshmen, congratulations if you’ve qualified for a principal’s pass for quarter 3! Your passes will be ready to pick up starting today.

  • Here comes semester two, so students who would like to change their schedules for next semester that is coming to town can pick up a schedule change form from the Counseling Office and bring it to one of the following Schedule Change sessions- Tuesday, Dec. 17th from 7:30-9:00, Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 1:10-3:21 and Thursday, Dec. 19th from 7:30- 9:00 and 1:10-3:21. 
  • All I want for Christmas is for you to pass your finals so here a reminder of what this week’s final schedule will look like: tomorrow, the finals for 2nd period, 4th period, and 6th period will occur. The 2nd period final starts at 9:15. Your lunch will be the same as your regular lunch. On Wednesday, the 3rd period and the 5th period final will happen. The 3rd-period final will begin at 9:15 and your lunch is based on your 5th period. On Thursday, the 1st period and the 7th period final will happen. The 1st period final will begin at 9:15 and your lunch is based on your 7th period. Don’t let your grades get run over by a reindeer and believe in yourself. 
  • This week in sports, girls basketball will rock around the court in a game today here vs. Brighton, boys basketball will have a tournament in Las Vegas starting Thursday, wrestling will have a tournament on Saturday vs. Mead and girl’s swimming will have meets on both Tuesday and Thursday here vs. Eaglecrest on Tuesday and Gateway and Central on Thursday.   • It's time to start planning for Spring Break 2021! Are you interested in traveling to London, Dublin, and Paris on a fun and educational trip? There will be a student meeting today from 3:30 - 3:45 in room 130 (Ms. Kay's room). If you can't make the meeting, email or talk to Ms. Kay for details. 
  • Have you ever wanted to be a mentor? If so, listen up, Rangeview High School is partnering with Friends First in training high school students to mentor middle school students at Colombia. Stop by Mrs. Boyd’s office to get more information. 
  • Tomorrow, December 13th, Rangeview will be hosting a Winter Festival in the commons.  Put on some comfy clothes and come relax with some festive activities before finals week. There will be caroling, ornament decorating, a gingerbread house contest, and Hot Cocoa. We will also be showing the Polar Express in the theater. Tickets are 5 with an activity card and 6 without. Family and friends are welcome to attend!
  • There is a boy’s varsity basketball game and a varsity wrestling triangular meet. Basketball is playing at Regis at 7:00 and wrestling will be at Thornton at 6:00.

  • Raiders, today following these announcements, your 3rd-period teacher will pass out a "Student Final Schedule" handout for you to take a few minutes to plan out when you have each of your finals. You will also use this time to determine which lunch you have each day. The first day of finals, Tuesday, Dec 17th you have lunch during your regular time. Wednesday your lunch, will depend on your 5th-period class and Thursday your 7th period final will determine your lunch period. If you do not have a 3rd Period class please ask one of your other teachers for a copy of the Student Final Schedule handout or pick one up from the Main Office. These handouts are also posted on the Rangeview HS website.

  • November is National Native American Heritage Month. Rangeview High School is proud to recognize and celebrate the diverse and rich culture, history and traditions of Native Americans. Did you know that many of the foods we eat today were first cultivated by Native Americans, including potatoes, corn, peanuts, pumpkins, melons, and sunflower seeds? Native Americans were also the first to practice conservation and ecology strategies. Please join us as we recognize the contributions of Native Americans
  • Want to be a part of Political History, truly understand Democracy, and visit Washington, D.C in January 2021 for the Presidential Inauguration? Come by and see Mrs. Walsh for information or show up for an initial meeting on Thursday, December 5th at 6 pm in Rm. 245B. Open for Current Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshman in good standing.
  • Today, both girls and boys basketball will be having their intrasquad red and white games. At 4:30, 9th-grade boys will be playing the 10th-grade team. At 6:00, the girls will have their red and white game and at 7:00, the boys will have their red and white game. Be there or be square!!

  • This Saturday from 9-3, the 32nd annual craft fair will take place. There will be over 140 vendors, free parking, and even a snack bar. See you there!!
  • Did you know that Rangeview's Unified Sports program was just inducted into the Special Olympics Colorado Hall of Fame? Would you like to be part of this ground-breaking program? Unified Sports is the perfect opportunity for you to make new friends, spread kindness, and have fun playing sports! Please join us at our Winter Unified Sports Informational Meeting where you can join our cheer or basketball teams! The meeting will be today after school from 4 PM - 5 PM in RM 114.   • Attention all athletes interested in coming out for track!  We will be having a short meeting on Monday right after school in the weight room.  You will receive information on preseason training. Again, be in the weight room by 3:25 on Monday if you are interested in coming out for the Track Team!

  • The speech and debate team kicked some serious butt this past Saturday. Alex Godfrey took second place in student congress. Kathy Pham placed 4th in slam poetry and drama. Daniel Torres placed 5th for novice speaker and Mekhi placed third. Myriam Alcala placed 7th as an open speaker and Chris Cambonga placed third. Daniel and Mekhi won second overall in the novice debate, and Laylah Rodriguez and Yeabsera Fitsum won second in varsity. Great job team! If you are interested in competing please come to practices on Tuesdays in 221. GO RAIDERS!

  • Interact will be collecting toys and games for kids 3-16 yrs of age. It can be a gift card to Target, Walmart, used and new toys as well as games. All contributions will be given to the Salvation Army at a community dinner. If you are interested in attending the dinner as a community service opportunity or would like to give a donation of any kind, there will be a table set up in the commons this week beginning tomorrow at lunches for more info and sign up.
