Accuplacer Test

Accuplacer Test

The Accuplacer test is provided to Aurora Public School students, at no cost, by the Community College of Aurora (CCA).  This test is used to determine college readiness and eligibility for concurrent enrollment courses both on the Rangeview High School and CCA campuses.

Test dates will be available throughout the year at RHS.  For the most recent information, please see your counselor or check the Concurrent Enrollment bulletin board across from the counseling office.

Students may need to take only a portion of the test to qualify for specific courses.  Please speak with a counselor or concurrent enrollment instructors to determine which of the following options you need:

  • Reading Comprehension and Sentence Skills
  • Elementary Algebra
  • Full test (both of the above)

Students are expected to:

  1. Apply to CCA for a student number (S#) and to the College Opportunity Fund (COF) before signing up to take the Accuplacer.
  2. Sign up for the Accuplacer Test here
  3. Review the Accuplacer Study Guide. or Another Accuplacer Study Guide. Students taking the Elementary Algebra test need to review only that section, not the Arithmetic questions).
  4. Report to the testing room on test day promptly with an RHS ID card. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late may be turned away due to time constraints.
  5. Behave responsibly and appropriately while testing. Students dismissed from testing due to inappropriate behavior will not be able to take the Accuplacer test at RHS for the remainder of the school year.

The Accuplacer test includes:

  • English – Reading Comprehension and Sentence Skills:
    • Reading (multiple choice)
    • Writing (essay)
  • Mathematics
    • Basic Algebra – Elementary Algebra
    • One of the following, depending on the score:
      • Pre-Algebra
      • Intermediate Algebra
    • Trigonometry/Calculus is a separate test and is available to students who score at least 60 on the Intermediate Algebra test. Please see the CCA Test Administrator upon receipt of the score.

Testing Policy

It is important to do your best when taking the test. A student can only take the Full English or the Math once in a one year period. It is strongly advised to prepare for your test, as you will not be allowed to retest before the next year.

After testing, what now?

Once you receive your test scores from the CCA Test Administrator on testing day, make an appointment to see your counselor to discuss concurrent enrollment options.

Rangeview offers over twenty-five (25) CE classes on our campus taught by Colorado Community College System (CCCS) approved instructors who are qualified to teach both high school and college courses. This is an exciting opportunity for our students to earn college experience and credit with no out of pocket expenses.

For any other questions, please schedule an appointment to see your RHS Counselor or visit the College & Career Center (CCC) on Mondays to see a CCA representative.
